Default Replace Instrument Cluster, now 'no bus'

I replaced my canadian instrument cluster in a 2001 durango where everything was working just fine, I just didnt want the kilometer guages.

But when putting in the new cluster (used actually), the odometer shows the mileage then shows 'no bus' in the reading, the suv starts fine but I am wondering how I can clear the error message?

Is it as simple as bringing it to autozone? or is the cluster not compatible.

You probably need to clear the pcm with a diagnostic tool.. Autozone will come out an read the codes for you free, have them do that then tell them to clear the computer after they pull the codes. no bus is a hard code, meaning it will stay.

What do you mean .hard code. The error goes away if the original cluster is put back in.

A hard code is a code that will always be stored an not removed by a reset (by unhooking the battery for a few min or the key method to reset the pcm) A soft code is a code that can be erased by the 2 above methods above.

Hard code only can be reset by a diagnostic tool.
