Default Disabling the 01 Durango Electronic Limiter

ok so i have been looking around on the net and even here in DF but cant seem to find what i'm looking for. i hear that the first gen durango's have a Electronic Limiter that may be able to be disabled by some special movement of the key. is this for real? how do you do this? and what is its purpose? is there a profomance gain? or is it for servicing the truck? also how do you enable the electronic limiter once finished with it?? please help if you can thanks all.

when you say electronic limiter, that is very. . .undescriptive

to my knowledge these trucks have a rev limiter (so that you cannot over-rev the engine, it cuts fuel when you hit it) and a speed limiter (more commonly known as a governor) this is at 118 according to most reports that i have read, if you want to go faster than that you are in the wrong vehicle (sorry i would not feel safe in a D going that fast)

no afaik the only way to disable or move either one is with a programmer (im not even sure if you can move the rev limiter)

I have heard that you can turn the key towards the start side but not fully to engage the starter while driving down the road. All this will do for you is bypass the rev limiter but at the same time your dash gauges will not be operating. Why even bother to do this? Rev limiters are programmed for a reason along with the speed limiter.

No problem and welcome to the forum. Knowledge is a good thing too, better than trying by the seat of your pants and messing things up! Your question was kind of hard for some to understand but it would have to be me of all people to tell you how to do it, now I lost all respect from my forum friends here. They will now think of me as being a shade tree mechanic...LOL
