i know you posted this awhile ago but i have a 02 sxt that i actually traded my 96 grand for

i love it, it is a great truck, it sucks having no 4low but i still have not gotten it stuck and i have tried a few times

i paid about 7000 cdn and it had 137,000 kms (85,000 miles) so it seems like it would be a good deal

and as far as problems go, you own a jeep so it would be alot better
there have been a few issues with mine but nothing too big yet

Jazz:
The SXT was the basic Durango, and as such usually had the 4.7 motor. There have been a few documented SXT's though that did get the larger 5.9 engine.

Cloth seats, no third row seat, and a simpler dash cluster with more idiot lights and less gauges were the norm.

As long as the truck is in good shape, I would run a Carfax on it and make the best deal you can.

My guess though is that with some searching, you will come upon a nice SLT model with more bells and whistles and lower miles for about the same money.

The 2001 I had was gem, and I wish I had never sold it. I do however like my 2004 Hemi D even more.

I believe all Durango dash clusters match based on their individual year groupings. All 98-00s have the same dash cluster with more gauges. All 01-03s have the same with fewer gauges and more idiot lights.

afaik indy is correct on that, i have only ever seen 2 different dash clusters in the durangos/dakotas from this time frame and that is how they broke down
