Default Aftermarket Stereo: Turns on... Then turns off...

Hey everyone, I have followed this wiring diagram to hook up a new JVC, or JBL ( I don't remember off the top of my head) head unit into my 2000 durango, but I have ran into a problem along the way. So I have the 12V constant hooked up to the 12V constant wire coming from my head unit, and the same with the switched 12V "AKA" ACC. When I power the car on, my head unit powers up for two or three seconds before shutting down again... I am using the black and tan wire that was originally hooked up to the outside case of the stock head unit, is this the proper ground? If so, does anybody else have any ideas as to what could be causing this problem? Thanks guys!

Got a volt/ohm meter? Do some testing.

Thanks for the advice... I tested my positive to what I thought was ground under DC with my volt meter and got nothing, I am hoping that the original jolt from some sort of electrical build up due to the capacitance of the car frame was giving the radio enough juice to power up before it sensed that it was under powered and shut back down. If so then I'll just have to change the ground location, I will change this soon and let you know what happens...
