stupid question on A/C

Hi
I just picked up a 98 durango with the 5.9 and had to replace the A/c compressor but for the life of me i cant find the expansion valves front and rear a/C please help thank you is there a possibility that it has an orifice tube? and not an expansion valve
thank you

check rockauto and/or autozone website for replacement parts and see what's listed. my 01 doesn't have an expansion valve. the high pressure line goes directly into the firewall.

talk to 45autopete, he is A/C certified and will be able to tell you where to look.

afaik the A/C uses expansion valves

You have a Ram Truck and he is talking about a Durango, two totally different beasts. Yours probably does have an expansion valve but it is located on your evaporator core. The answer to the OP's question is, it is located on your passenger side by the firewall and you will have to unbolt the lines and then the valve. Make sure you use new gaskets. The rear is located on the evaporator, inside the vehicle, under the trim on the right rear. Hope that helps ya.

Out of curiosity, where is this?

open the hood, and look all the way behind the engine, on the passenger side of the truck . . .
