Not that I would trust. If you are talking about the main nut on the water pump shaft then I would replace it. Your talkin about something that is going around up to 5000 RPM's, I wouldn't trust a blotched job...IMHO

Thanks for some good information here. Let me add another question:

Is there "break-in" time for a new fan clutch?

My clutch went bad. Severe rattling and play in fan. So I replaced the fan clutch. I put in a TorqFlo htr 77292. No problem installing after getting good info from the forum. Now that it is installed, it seems to always be engaged. Engine is always "roaring".

I have an 01 D, 5.9. Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah, new clutch fans are going to be a little firm. I'm not sure how long it takes to loosen them up but this is part of the reason I just removed my clutch fan all together. Given my eFan is functional and my temp gauge never goes over the half way mark anyway, I haven't installed a clutch fan electric replacement yet (More or less I don't know how).

Thanks Moparman! I will just keep listening to the roar and see if it calms down after awhile.

Give a a few miles to relax, if not replace it.
