Default Flipping Rear Leaf Springs

Hey all,

Another question on my sons 99 Durango. He has bought two 32" tires for the rear which I am sure are too large. He said a tech told him they could flip the rear leafs in order for the tires to be mounted.

I dont know enough about the leaf springs, etc and if this should be performed or not. My opinion is no. Seems it would effect the ride of the vehicle or worse.

Any advice, greatly appreciated.

31" tires are the biggest tires offered on the truck in stock for, this was done for a reason, bc the bigger ones wont fit (in the front, you will rub badly at full lock IN STOCK FORM)

now i dont see any reasons you couldnt put the leafs on top of the axle (i assume this is what they mean) since the dakotas are set up that way and it seems to work fine but unless he also lifts the front of the truck an equal amount he will completely screw up the balance (front/rear) of the truck and the handling will go with it.

so in short, tell him unless he wants to spend the money to lift the truck correctly to just leave it alone

btw: if he has a 4x4 all 4 tires need to be the same size

Thanks man, no it's a 2 x 2. He's got 31.5's on it now and wants 32 in the rear for whatever reasons. Yeah, same advice I gave him, do a regular lift or leave it alone. I appreciate your help.

It doesn't appear that the leafs can be flipped as the housing is different for under bolt on. Do they weld on new axle brackets or what? Any pics?
