Default Radiator Bracket

I did a little afternoon project today. Removed the radiator support crossmember, grinded down the corrosion, and prepped/primed/painted/reinstalled.

Time involved approx five-six hours.

Notes: Air tools would help but it isn't exactly a major piece of equipment. Just make sure you have a good supply of sanding discs, wire brushes, sand paper, dremel tools. I used the dremel tool with sanding wheel on it to get the detailed parts of the corrosion and used the orbital sander for area sanding. I used a spray 15 minute chemical to remove most of the paint.

Hardware, 1/2" ratchet wrench, used mainly for the outboard aft bolt on the drivers side. The one against the fender. 1/2 sockets should work for the other bolts.

10mm socket or nut driver. These are for the hood latch support bolts.

small rubber mallet.. used to push up the cross member from the bottom slowly.

Note. IndyD noted when he did his, thecrossmember was out for about 12 hours, and he had to wedge the bracket in, since over time without the crossmember the fenders start canting in. Basically, this crossmember is a structural support and load bearing.

I thought I had refiled that photo in another folder before I sent to photobucket but I guess not. As Indy D said, like the movie "UP"....Doug has "Squirrel" I have.."Airplane"

Reminds me of another skit on Conan O Brien, clips show....He is teaching 1860 baseball, with period uniforms, rules etc......About 2/3rd of the way into the clip, the camera pans to a jetliner on approach to JFK airport.......everyone is like.....What is that contraption?
