Default Bouncing idle

2002 durango with 4.7L

The idle bounces between 750 & 1200. If I clean the throttle body it stops for about a week. I took the K&N air filter out and replaced it with a paper filter, cleaned the throttle body, all was good for about one week again.

Any ideas would be appreciated!!

check the IAC valve and the TPS (does it do this at cruising speed to any extent, might be less noticeable when driving)

If it surges with the cruise control on more than idle then replace the TPS. If it's just on idle replace the IAC.

The engine is steady all except when sitting at idle. No codes thrown. I can read the live data stream for the TPS, should it move at all ?? The idle air , how can it be checked ??

the tps should change as you press the gas pedal, but be pretty steady at idle, the iac, i have never heard of a test for it unfortunately
