Oil Pressure is dropping to ZERO
#12
No issues at all. I just wanted to go synthetic. Been hearing good things about mobil1 so I decided one day to do it. No sludge, it's a myth btw, just time for a regular oil change.

Glad I did....
So for folks who have dropped the pan what has the verdict been? SLudged up non-maintained engine from prior owner or are the pumps on some of these prone to failure??
I only have about 50K on my 5.9 but I run Amsoil and change it on reasonable interval.
Maybe I'll throw an autometer guage on to monitor so if something happens it will be easier to diagnose.

I dropped the pan because I felt the knowledge gained was worth it, one way or the other. I found a debris filled filler screen on the oil pick up tube. Would not have gained this knowledge without dropping the pan. Would not have fixed my issue without the same knowledge. KNOCK on WOOD, so far so good. Oil pressure good and the truck is running well.

concur with autopete, I think the synthetic has caused the fossil based sludge to break up and clog the pickup screen, utilize a good engine flush...drop the pan, GI the pan and crank case area, install a new oil pump and screen, go back to petroleum based oil(Castrol GTX or Quaker State high mileage 10w40) after you button it back up...kingoftow
