Well i mean, since I'm only 18 i think my 2002 4.7L is a great first truck. i would have like an slt+ with the 360 or else those R/T models. But i got the truck from my dad and he bought it brand new in 2002. those guys at the dealership didn't tell him there was a 5.9l. they first sold him lil v6. then he went back and got the 4.7l. i wish he would have got the r/t its amazing! i love those!

lol the 4.7 is not a bad engine, actually puts out almost the same numbers as the 5.2 and uses less gas, it is a pretty good match for most in this truck, of course it doesnt match the 5.9 if you are going to be towing alot or if you want to build it up, but even if duranged doesnt like them for some reason, there isnt anything wrong with it

btw i got mine the same way you did (almost) my parents drove it out of the showroom the last day of may in 02, was my moms DD for 5 years then i got it

The 4.7 isn't that bad. Mine pulls my 6200lb truck on a 1500lb car trailer no problem. Just a little sluggish going uphill.
