2 Inch Lift
So a while back i was talking to mrwilliwizard on youtube and he told me he got a 2 inch lift done for 80 bucks.
He did a torsion crank in the front and a rear shackle lift in the back. I wanna do this as well. And I'm not much of a mechanic but i think i can do this project myself. My question is, is this difficult to do? also where are the torsion bar's bolts located so i can give them a few cranks? Also is this a sturdy lift? i don't want my durango falling apart because its a bad way to do a lift or because i did it wrong. what do you guys think? |
it is a perfectly acceptable way to lift the truck and will hold up, the torsion bar bolts are on the frame back from the wheels, just follow the t-bars and you will find the bolts, and as long as you have some patience, and the right tools you shouldnt have too much trouble doing this job

Torsion/shackle 2 inch lift
Also will i need a realignment for my tires afterward?
|
How far back from the wheels are the torsion bar bolts? if i start from the frame connecting to the front wheel and move inwards how far inwards am i going? 1-2 ft? also is it the only large bolt there? don't want to get it confused with something else.
I was just under my truck and found two possible bolts. the one i think it is, is facing directly towards the ground and is a tad further towards the front of the truck off the frame from the wheels. is this correct? Anyone have a picture of the torsion bar bolt and ots surroundings so i can get a good look at it? also this just hit me now. I'm in a state where we have 5-6 months of snow (Minnesota) and there is a lot of rust on the bolts will this give me a problem? or will WD-40/liquid wrench take care of this? |
wd40 SHOULD take care of the rust just fine, its not IN it is BACK, follow the frame back and see where it and the T-bars meet, should be the only bolt there
and yes it will need to be aligned whenever you touch the front suspension (except for shocks, they dont require alignment :D) |
so its a little further towards the rear of the car? just a little bit from where the wheels are? i'll go take another look. and i'm assuming these are gonna be large 5/8-3/4 inch by 6 inch bolts? not some small thin little ones with small hex heads?
|
you would be correct (im not sure on the size, but they are bigger than most)
|
Alright thanks man! I'm gonna go take another look under my truck. I'll try to take a video or a couple pictures of it underneath there and I'll post it to this thread. then you guys can tell me if i found it.
I don't know if i will be able to do it tonight though. possibly tomorrow morning. or else I'll make a fresh thread for it. thanks man, appreciate it! |
