Default Possible Fuel Filter Problem?

I wanted to know if anyone out there would be able to help me diagnose a problem that I am having with our Durango? When we start it, it turns over, but then it just dies out, as though it is not getting enough fuel. If I accelerate it while in Park, it'll stay running until I let go of the pedal. However, I can get it to drive and then after a block or two down the road, it'll stall out or just die out when I come to a stop sign. Is anyone familiar with this problem or have an idea as to what it is? Thanks in advance for your help.

check the fuel pressure to see if it is a fuel pump problem

but some more info would be nice, year, engine size, drivetrain (4x4 2wd), trans(if you know) mileage, when was the last tune up done? what parts where used? (should be done ever 30k, new plugs (champion copper core ONLY), wires, cap and rotor(brass contacts), new air filter)

also another simple but yet annoying lil thing to check is the IAC (idle air control) motor its on the throttle body if urs has the mpi they get carbon built up on them and it will cause these problems. easy to fix, most of the time you can remove them usually 2 screws hold it on or it threads into the tb. remove it clean it and the socket and reinstall. just another idea ... use carb cleaner or starting fluid to clean it . this is what it looks like

Sounds like a fuel pump to me but you can do a pressure test to confirm. Anything under 50psi I would replace.

ok when going down the road it runs fine doesnt stall no lack of power? but when you stop at a light or sign it stalls out or dies out like running out of fuel?.. and also when sitting still in park will it run fine and race up good as long as you keep it above idle ?. if so i would definately check the IAC as mentioned before, and we need to know what year, engine size, tranny, 2wd/4wd?

When was the last time you had the battery checked? Did your D stay parked for a long time? You could have a battery drain. The Ds are very temperamental when it comes to having a good battery. The pcm acts crazy if there's no optimum charge. Just my $0.02.
