Default Wanting to replace Crankcase breathers

I was reading a post the other day and came across some information about the crankcase breathers on this vehicle. I did not know they had any and only thought that it only needed the pcv replaced. Do these have a check valve in them or are they just something to connect the vent hoses to the air cleaner? I have tried looking for this part at autozone, orielly, advance auto, etc. with no success. I came across some on rock auto but they are totally different to what my truck has. I searched under the 2001 model year and that one listed on Rockauto looks more like the one on my truck. Is there a way to see if they are faulty? Not noticing anything worng with my truck just wanting to replace due to maintainance. Thanks in advance.

The breather is only that, "a breather". There is no working parts. It looks like a PCV valve but completely hollow so in essence it is only a elbow. They are even a wide boar just like the hose without any restriction. I believe yours is on the drivers side and goes into the back of the air hat. They are a dealer part only and they have a pre-formed hose (again go to the dealer for the hose). You do not need to service them as it's only a vent into the crank case.

Now you replace the PCV valve as normal maintenance (I say about yearly) and that's it.

I have noticed that the breather hose going from the back of air cleaner tube to the block is disconected from the block. I tried to put it back on but there is nothing that lets it go back together. Any advice on how to get it put back together?

If the hose attaches to the rear of the air hat (above the Throttle Body) and goes to the left or right there should be an opening in the valve cover. It goes into the valve cover. If you look inside the hose most likely the breather (which is a 90 degree plastic elbow) has broken and you will find one end in the tube and the other in the valve cover. Replace the breather, hose, and garment. You can get these at the dealer.
