Default Won't keep running

Some idiots broke in my car and left the door open which killed thee battery. While I was charging the battery I needed to roll the vehicle forward and that set off the security system. Now that the battery is charged the vehicle starts but dies as soon as I release the gas. I think the security system is killing it. Is there anything needed to reset the system? I have used the key remote and also tried unlocking the passenger door.

thanks in advance for helping me

you could also have a bad battery (if its 3-4 years or older i recommend replacing it), or a dirty/sticky/bad IAC valve (located on the back of the throttle body), in all honesty it sounds to me like you already did reset the alarm since i believe the alarm stops the truck from starting in the first place when it is tripped

+1 on the bad battery. Our Ds are very temperamental when it comes to the battery. It has to be fully operational w/o any defects for the computer to work properly. I'd take shrp's advice and change out the battery. Go for Duralast Optima gold.

If it is the security lockout, arm and disarm with the fob, then lock and unlock with the key. That should reset the alarm lockout. Unless you stole it and don't have the fob/keys! Ouch!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I ultimately disconnected the negative lead for about 3 minutes, then reconnected it, and the truck started and ran great. For the guy who suggested the DuraLast Gold battery I have to say I agree. The battery I have is a DuraLast Gold. It is a little over 3 years old. It was completely dead from the break in. I charged it for 24 hours and then did the trick with the battery lead. We took a trip over labor day. When we returned my daughter left the overhead light on all night. The next day the truck still started right up. That is one tough battery.

Dammit, I just found out that what I thought was a brain was only an over active bursa gland!
