Here's an update. After evacuating the system and recharging I've still got problems. I think I've got a blockage because after going from idle to around 1000 to 1500 rpm's, the low side drops from about 33 psi to around 25 psi and the high side goes from around 250 psi to above 350 psi. I'm going to replace the two expansion valves like suggested and replace the drier. I also would like to flush the condenser. What is the best way to flush. Does it need to be completely removed and what is the preferred flushing solvent/liquid? And I probably should flush the evaporator?

I haven't done this before so this is new, but after reading the manual I downloaded from this sight I have a question. Am I required to have the proper A/C line disconnect tool for removing the refrigerant line coupler? It says it is Special Tool Kit 7193. Or can I use something else like pliers and a screw driver? I don't want to damage anything so I thought I would ask.

the A/C system is something i wouldnt mess with myself, only bc whenever you open the system you release toxic chemicals into the environment,(the epa doesnt like this and hands out hefty fines to those caught doing it) and the equipment to work on these systems is soooooo expensive that its not worth the investment for a shade tree mechanic to do own.

and im NOT sharing my scotch, . . . (or the cigar )

+1 on taking the D into the shop for repairs concerning a/c systems.

the quick disconnect tools are similar to the ones used to change the fuel filter on a ford.. they are lil plastic rings that slide over the line and pushed in to the release the spring loaded coupler. you can get them at any parts place and they arent expensive but can be a major pain cause of being hard to get to . but if you have never done it before and dont have a recovery machine to contain the freon i would take it to a shop and have it done they can also flush the condensor and evap core.

if you do it your self carquest sell a flush you blow through the lines after they have been disconnected from your compressor, but it sounds like to me to much oil is in the system or you expansion valve craped out the front one is near the fire wall and the rear is under the trim in the rear on the passagerside make sure you use metric and the correct torx head and impact swivel to remove the rear seat and belts, swivels for the rear seat.

a/c is easy. really not much to remember, just keep it clean

its easy for people that have done it before and know what they are doing.just like rebuilding an automatic transmission.. its easy not much to it. IF you know what you are doing .

Exactly, neogeo! It's easy IF you did it before. To the OP, take it to a trusted a/c shop and see if you can hang around when they do the repair/install. Take mental notes and next time it'll be easier on your wallet.
