I have a 99 Durango 5.2. About 6 months ago the truck suddenly wouldn't start one morning. After testing a bunch of theories it was finally determined that I needed a new computer. After getting the dealer to install the new computer, everything was fine for a while. Then I started getting a check engine light when the engine was under load, such as when it downshifts while going uphill. The light will blink for a while and then turn off. I had my local mechanic check the codes when I had the oil changed and he told me it was a 'random misfire'.

Then this morning, on my way to work, the engine completely shut off twice while I was driving. I was able to get it restarted both times with some difficulty and make it to the office. I also noticed that the A/C blower stopped working after one of the shut-offs. I checked the fuse for that and it seemed to be fine.

Any ideas what could be happening with my truck? Thanks for the help.

 

Whens the last time you did a tune up and what parts did you use?

Also, it could be a bad fuel pump.
