Default Abs light blinking

New to this forum. I have a 2000 Durango with the 5.9 L engine & 4WD>

Recently the ABS light started blinking, so I thought a wheel sensor was bad. I checked the truck & it has no wheel sensors. I also figured out that it only has rear wheel ABS. I went to the stealership & they told me that the most common cause of ABS light is the sensor in the rear axle. I bought one & replaced it, but the light is still blinking. They also told me the only other part to this system is the ABS controller assembly mounted on the wheel well & it costs $400.

Can anyone tell me what may be the problem or what I can do to look for a problem? Is there a way to retrieve codes without paying the dealer $50?

Any help would be appreciated.

abs codes can only be pulled by the dealer, or a shop that has the correct equipment, try resetting the code by disconnecting the battery negative terminal, then holding the key to start for 15-30 seconds (drains the capacitors in the electrical system) and then reconnect the battery and the code should have been cleared, if it comes right back you have a bigger problem than the sensor, however a blinking light usually indicates a more severe problem than the light being illuminated steady.

as much as i hate to inform you of this, i believe the dealer is right and the only components in the 2wheel abs system is the controller, the sensor and the abs module int he brake line (the first and last one may be one unit idr at this point)

Are you near an AAMCO transmission shop?
They pull codes for free, it is a nationwide policy.
Advance Auto and Autozone do not have the correct scanner.
