Default 2000 Dodge Durango

New to this but I need help have a 2000 durango 4x4 slt 4.7 engine recently I had a new manfact engine put in with a new cooling system Fan clutch, water pump, thermo stat, hoses, Radiator When I'm at a light sitting or driving in slow traffic it gets hot like almost to RED on the gauge (about 250%) and then when I take off it drops back down to 190% Also I live in the mountains and when I go up a grade it climbs Some body said that maybe my Elec. Fan is reversed going to see if bypassing it works relays are new to Can somebody help please parts changing is getting spendy This has been a nightmare from the start also have a tranny issue when it gets hot the tranny will buck and the check engine comes on drops in the limp mode shut it off and its fine but light stays on had a new trans sol. put in put still reads 700 code

It could be that your trans is heating up the system or visa-verse.


Check the electric fan.

Check the clutch fan.

Change the transmission filters and add ATF+4 fluid only.

Burp the coolant system of any air in the system.

Could be a bad Thermostat.
