Default 3rd row seat removal

I've got a 2001 with the 3rd row seats. Being a single guy, I need storage more that seat space, so I was hoping to remove the 3rd row seats and make it into the storage compartment. Even if I had to leave the seat backs in place and just remove the bottom, I'd be happy. One of my concerns is supporting the cargo are floor that is currently being supported by the seat cushions. Has anyone tried this? Any info would be appreciated.

Well it honestly doesnt make much more room when removed, plus it makes stuff hard to grab from the back. Its only 4 or 6 bolts that you remove btw, takes maybe 20 mins for the first time.

its eays to do, but wouldnt make much space, however i do believe that the origional (early model years) came with the option for a third row, and if you opted out of it you got an extra storage 'box' underneath, you can take it out and build something to cover the open space and it should work.

I have the opposite question, I just bought an 02 without the 3rd row seat and very much would like to add one. How hard would it be to add the 3rd row seat?
