Default '99 Durango Only 1 Stop Light Works

This issue has me stumped. One stop light decided to quit working. I replaced the bulb and the issue was resolved. However, one week later the light was out again. This time the bulb was fine. I tried a new bulb, I also swapped the bulb and socket out from the other working taillight but it still doesn't work. If I turn the lights on the bulb is illuminated but when I depress the brake pedal the other filament within the bulb doesn't engage. I was thinking that it might be the brake switch but then why would the other stoplight work. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? thx!

first of all, im going to move this to the first gen section so that people actually see it (the reason there are no threads here is bc noone looks here)

the most likely problem is the contacts in the bulb socket are loose, you can usually just bend them out a little bit to improve the connection and it will solve the problem, they might also be dirty, use some rolled up sand paper or steal your gfs nail file (the little cardboard one) and use it to clean the contacts on the bulb socket to improve connection, if not i would start checking for loose wires in the plug, or a frayed/broken wire in the wire loom going up towards the front

+1 Sharps

Check for power around the wire that is dead at the harness (bulb). Clean as needed.

Is there an after market tow wiring kit installed?

Default Light Assembly

Thanks guys. I took the left back taillight assembly off and plugged it into the back right side and the brake light worked. So, luckily, it wasn't the wiring. I cleaned up the connections around the bulb, socket and assembly and it still didn't work. Something must have gotten fried or corroded within the assembly. I'm picking up a new one today and hopefully that should resolve the issue. Thanks again for the suggestions.
