Default 180 deg. stat or OEM?

Hello, first post. I own a 98 durango with the 5.2. I am at 120K and I am about to flush the cooling system and replace the thermostat. Would you guys advise installing a Jet 180 deg thermostat (part no. 10170) or stick with the OEM 195 deg stat? Would I get more or less MPG with the 180? My engine is stock. Thanks for your help.

the 180 stat is a good idea int he 5.x series engines, you most likely wont see a difference in mpgs, however it is the temperature that the block was designed to run at and will help with the longevity of the engine

Thanks for the reply! Will I still get enough heat this winter? Also, is this the only gasket I will need to replace?

You should get enough heat, but think of the heads you will be saving from the heat of the 195 OEM......It's a good call with the 180.
