Water Pump question
I just replaced my water pump AGAIN and after installing it, I am in fear that the hose that connects to the top of the pump (and goes underneath the A/C Compressor housing to the block) has started leaking.
How hard is it to remove it? I imagine that I have to remove the Accessory housing for the Alternator and A/C compressor.

You don't have to remove the water pump. Just remove the fan shroud and serpentine belt, but leave the fan attached to the water pump. Leave the compressor and alternator on the A/C bracket. Remove all the bolts that hold the bracket to the block including the two braces to the top of the intake manifold. Unplug the two plugs to the AC compressor and remove the bolt that holds the dip stick tube to the bracket. At this point you can lift it high enough to replace the hose.

Is it common for that hose to go bad? Last time I replaced the pump, that hose leaked for a little while then stopped. Now its up to its evil again and winter is poking its ugly face around the corner.

Sounds like you just had bad clamps. I always replace the OEM clamps with worm drivin Stainless Steel clamps and tighten to the point that the hose is kind of bumping up through the worm holes, but not enough you can really feel them. Always place the head of the worm gear so you can get to it just in case. Replace the hose and clamps.

Make sure the inlet (for the bypass hose coming out of the intake manifold) on the water pump is screwed in tight with teflon tape or pipe dope. My inlet was loose on the replacement pump. After all assembled I had a leak and couldn't figure out where it was from. Nothing like doing a job twice.
