Default Getting a wicked noise

Got an 02 Durango with 108k. Put it in 4 hi today and started hearing a loud clicking noise. I get the same result with 4 lo. 2wd sounds/works fine. Wondering if anyone has any ideas.

did the clicking change frequency/volume level with speed? if so could be the t-case chain slapping around.

Could it something as simple as replacing fluid. I haven't used 4wd since last winter.

Yes,

Open and drain the T-case plug. Refill with ATF+4 fluid only (about 1 1/2 quarts). I like Valvoline ATF+4 Fully Synthetic or dealership ATF+4.

If it was slick like tires spinning it could be the axles not lining up in the slider on the front diff.
