Removing tranny question
This is likely the dumbest question I've ever asked. I am removing my 46RE from my 2000 Durango. I'm at the point of removing all the main bolts to the block and dropping it out of there, but I went to take the flywheel/torque converter cover off and I hit a problem. I removed the two obvious main bolts on the bottom of the cover and it seems like there are more than just the two because it wont budge. Are there more bolts that I'm missing? My Haynes manual doesn't tell or show me anything. I am used to working on Chevy's and I've never had a problem with those. I really don't want to pull the tranny without unbolting the converter. Anyone with some wisdom for me would be appreciated.
PS. Don't hold the Chevy thing against me.... this is my first Dodge and I'm really excited to get this tranny swapped and start driving it. I will post a pic of what I found when I removed the front dif skid plate. Now I know why the tranny was exploded too!

You will have to seperate the trans from the engine some to get it out. It goes up both sides and sits over the dowel pins.... I was in the same situation as you a couple months back. Chevy guy with first Dodge, I did end up leaving the plate out on mine. pain in the ***. It was fun cause the torque converter was stuck in the pump, The front pump bushing had welded itself to the converter snout. Just seperate it some and work that plate out over the dowels.
