Blower air direction control problems
So far I love my 2003 Durango. However, there is one thing that just absolutely annoys me especially in the winter. Whenever I change the blower control setting (vent/floor/defrost) it never seems to respond consistently. I can set it to the exact same position for floor and each time I'll get some combination of floor/defrost or floor/vent but never floor only. One click to the right and I get defrost/floor. One click to the left and I get vent/floor and sometimes no floor at all. Once in a blue moon it might work and I'll get it to come out only on the floor but usually I'll have to resort to a partial floor/defrost and drive with the window open so my face won't burn up. I can't stand having heat in my face but my feet are always cold. I assume the settings are pneumatically controlled since it usually takes 5 to 10 seconds for the new setting to respond. Any ideas on what could be the cause?
On your 2003 yours is electronically actuator controlled. You can get under there and replace the actuator and check it. Here is some information: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...w-problem.html
Like hydra said, check the actuators. One other question, do you run the blower full blast while changing direction? If so, try a slower speed and change the direction. After that, put it full blast again. Could be the pressure of the air flowing making the actuators not seat properly.
