Default Engine swap Question

I'm thinking about doing an engine swap other then changing my pcm would i need to do much other changes to swap from a 4.7L to a 5.9L motor in a dodge durango? or is it a rather straight forward swap out?

your going to have to replace most of the drivetrain and electrical.

to swap a 5.9 into a truck that was manufactured w/ the 4.7 you need
-engine (duh)
-pcm
-wire harness
-transmission
-motor mounts
-driveshafts (probably bc i believe the transmission is a different length on the 5.9 versus the 4.7)

you are opening one hell of a big can of worms with this swap, you are much better off time and money wise to sell the one w/ the 4.7 and buy a truck w/ a 5.9

I agree. If you had a 5.2, a 5.9 swap is pretty simple...

Even I don't think I would touch a 4.7 truck if I had any intention to swap in a 5.9L.

You would be better off trying a 5.7L Hemi swap.

I am in the same boat. I bought an 03 with the intentions to swap in a 5.9. The deal I got meant I was going to buy it anyways but quickly found out it wasnt worth the efforts or my budget. Find a junkyard motor as i did or resale it and find a 5.2 durango and go from there.

If you have a 4.7 you would be a lot better off swapping it over to a Hemi..The 4.7 transmission , and drivetrain are the same. and it would be a lot easier to wire.I put a 2004 Hemi in my 2001 Dakota for less than $1000.00 .BUT I only had $400.00 into the Hemi Motor AND transmission..What I had to buy was the computers and wiring harness. They were about $250.00..If I had bought 04 ECM and not bought the TCM too it would have been cheaper..
