Bad day for Durango
It's Back It's Back It's back!!!! After 4 weeks and 4 days of repair shop work, inspection, parts gathering issues and delays my beloved Durango is back. Now I have a few hard won lessons for some of you incase you find yourself in the same situation.
1. Don't be a cheap A@# like me and not opt for the Rental Car coverage on your insurance plan. I tried to go with out and that 6 dollar/ mo or whatever savings cost me $840 for the rental I used while my car was in the shop. And yes I got the monthly rate!
2. Stay on top of the body shop and their needs to fix your vehicle. If possible try to track down where you purchased aftermarket products and let them know so they can order the right ones from the right source in a timely manner. this was difficult for me as the brush guard on my rig was in place at purchase and I had no idea other than net surfing to find things.
3. Always be polite when delaing with service people even if you want to throttle them. I went to a vcery good shop but the loose ends where insane. Polietness will earn you favors down the road if you need then and you can ask for speed without sounding demanding. Example. " I'm not in a huge hurry for my car but If I could have it Friday that would be great." Or ,"I don't mind waiting an extra day I was expecting it Friday anyway." All are ways to get your point across with out being a dick. However sometimes you need to be.
My pick up day started off great and the truck was ready and clean and I signed a document for release and out I went. Started up and drove off. I realized quickly that the trany wasn't shifting so back I went. Turned out they had not put enough fluid in the trany. Add the juice and drive slowly up and down street a few times and voila shifts great. However I now have a check engine light that needs to be addressed...Friday. Lastly they repalced the front fog lights on my truck with KC Daylighters and those lovely little Smiley face covers..my 5 yo got a big kick out of them so I'll leave them on for now or until they are stolen.

Congrats on getting your Durango back and thanks for the advice. Coming from a Durango owner (you), it must be taken into consideration.

No, no... You must have misunderstood me. Actually I really LOVE the 1998-2003 Dodge Durangos. I dislike the 2004-present Durangos. With all my posts, I don't have any idea how you thought I don't like Durangos. And I DO like Dodge. If you are referring to my sig, I'm only saying that the Mustang designers went with the classic look of the Mustang and that's what the 2004 designers of the Durango should have done. So if you're saying that I like the current Mustang more than the CURRENT Durango, then you are correct. If you don't like the Mustang, that's fine. I hope you understand now.

Although I should reconsider my sig. It is misleading![&:]
There, changed it.
