Default In dash nav system?

Hello, I just got a 2000 Durango for my wife last week and I'm looking into getting an in dash nav system for her but when I check on the "will this fit my vehicle" on the best buy website none of them fit this truck. Anyone got an in dash nav system that fits nicely and that they are happy with?
Thanks

Hi pmax. Welcome to DF. I'm sure a few tech guys will be able to answer your question. Please give them a few hours to answer because we all have lives outside Df! LOL!

Welcome aboard,, tells us a little about yourself...and your D...model, color, photos...we are a friendly bunch......where are you from?

Early D models up until approx 2008 were 'SINGLE DIN" units...DIN is a unit of measurement for car stereos.... Double din are the newer models...look at mid 2000 series and you will see what I am talking about...they are "DOUBLE DIN" About the only way to get a in dash unit to fit is to get a flip-out model like I did....Google Kenwood KVT series...mine is a 514. Pioneer also makes a AVIC model but I am not sure which one. I have mine installed and it works good...sounds good and not hard to install. You kan get the Kenwood KVT 514 with or without NAV add on but it usually wounds up being cheaper to get the NAV at one time...Mine was $800 last year on Amazon plus about $200 for the XM radio/GPS/TRAFFIC WEATHER antenna...

With my Kenwood the flipout unit can be set by the user for angle.... if you send me a PM with email address I can send some photos.

As far as after market stereos go.... to my knowledge Alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer are the only major ones other users may offer other names but Alpine/Kenwood and Pioneer should be a good starting point.

Here are another couple of tips. If you are looking for Satellite radio make sure you get one that is satellite ready.....Meaning it should work with XM or Sirrius....yes they merged but they still have separate progamming plans and equipment.

Good luck and my personal vote is the Kenwood KVT-514 with Garmin NAV add on...if you want to start your google search with that.

the 98-03 durangos have a 1.5din radio iirc, but if you want an in-dash unit you will need something w/ a flip out screen
