Anybody know where I can order this thing online? Local dealer is telling me they dont have just the nut and it isnt replaced unless they damage one.

No idea where to get just the nut if the dealership won't get it for you. The only place I've ever been able to get it new was included with a new CV shaft....

Any other dealers in the area? Perhaps you'd have better luck with a different dealership. After all, if they replace them when they damage them, then they must have a source to get them. Just need to find a dealer that will sell it to you.

Not to advocate lying or anything, but maybe they'd be more inclined to help you out if you told them yours is damaged. Say you rounded it off when removing it.

I never replaced my nut, but then again that would be hard!.........

Anyway, my new CV's came with a new nut. But I had to take it off once and replaced and torqued and I didn't have a problem, but I torqued it to 182 just to help stretch it a little more.

Torque spec is:
Nut, Axle . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .244 N·m (180 ft. lbs.)

I've always heard you're supposed to do them as a pair. Wouldn't want things to get unbalanced....

Just curious... Does anyone know if those nuts are designed similar to TTY bolts (stretch bolts). I've never put a whole lot of thought into it, just knew I had to replace them.
