Default Finding a shop

This is sort of a two parter...

1) anyone have a shop they can recommend in the Bay Area?
2) any suggestions on how to find a shop that is honest and does quality work?

Thanks,

In this day an age good luck finding honest ones. Just like a visit to a Dr. office, you just have to talk with them. It also helps if they drive a Dodge, they will be more apt to know your probs. Look at the Facility, are they busy all the time? A garage that has burned people don't stay in business long. Word of mouth can help u too. Say ur wanting a lift and u see a truck with one, ask him or her where they had it done and if they are happy with the work. There's foot work involved but you will find one in your area that you'll be happy with.

I forgot to mention, a good garage also won't charge u to diagnose your prob and give an estimate, but when they do find the prob let them do the work, taking it somewhere else after they diagnosed it, prob will get u blacklisted.

Magic- is there more than one bay in this country??? (yeah, sf)
Dan- what is "ase certified"? I am really that dumb my brother!
Maine- ya'll ain't from around here isyah? I can't even imagine a place here not charging a 100$ diagnostic fee (although at least they tend to apply that to the repair if you have it done). It would be like a place letting you pump first or take a check at a restaurant!

Goddamnit Dan! You almost got me twice. I *already* googled "ase certification" so there!

However, so you don't feel unloved, riddle me this!

Is that "the thing" to look for? It seems like every shop has a ton of plaques and certification things on the wall...

This institute teaches and certifies their technicians to really know their stuff when it comes to automobiles.

LOL....my garage doesn't charge to diagnose. I've built a good repore with them, so if it's an easy fix, he just tells me how to do it myself if they are busy. Guess i'm lucky, but thats also the difference between city and country.

For the record, yes theres more than one bay area in this country. I live in the Tampa Bay Area in Florida. It's just referred to as the Bay Area however.
