your not gaining anything by removing the front drive shaft, the whole front axle is still turning (its pushed along by the wheels) and in general its not a good idea, the driveshafts are balanced so they need to go back in the way they came out or you will probably develop a vibration.
this should not be used as a long term fix as detailed above, you need to get your bearings (most likely) fixed correctly instead of putting a bandaid on the problem and waiting for it to blow up on you.
