Aftermarket air filters...
Thank you,
The Night before I finished putting on a Brass contact cap and rotor with new wires, Champion copper core plugs and cleaned my TB and IAC, so I figured some better air was called for.

Sounds like your D is running good clean and strong again! It's nice to know there's still people out there that still care about their vehicles and maintain them. It seems like theres just too much people now a days that just take advantage of the fact their car is running and are ignorant to anything that starts to go wrong.
Good job on being a caring parent! LOL

The challenge I had was that the 3"/3" Fern-co is designed for the OD of 3" PVC. The inlet on the stock air hat is 3", so the thickness of PVC was the amount that the Fern-co was oversize. I used the 3" to 3 1/2" adapter that came with the Spectra on the air hat then stretched the Fern-co around that, then an 8" section of 3" PVC slid all the way into the fern-co then the two 45's with only enough pipe to get them to but together, and the 4" size of the Spectra clamps right around the OD of the end of the second 45. I'm happy with how it turned out white PVC and all!!!
I did notice the throttle response was a little better, and it seemed to sound cooler. I installed it then hitch'd up and went camping for the first time with the D... uphill into the wind the whole way, 7.5 mpg... at 70 mph.

I got better mileage with the wind going downhill... But not much! I think that I may make a wind deflector to get the air over the camper instead of into the front of it...

It really isn't worth the gain with a wind deflector unless you tow all the time.
I recently found out that my 26" trailer is running at 9000 lbs and I used to pull it with my Durango. I got about 7 MPG's and a lil more MPG runnin up hill, to be expected. Thing is you need to look at the overall MPG's and I can at least say I met the same as you.
Pullin a thing the size of that sail in the wind and add the stress of the weight, I think you did damn good period.
