Default I need Shocks!

For some reason i cant find shocks for my 98 durango. I dont want to spend anymore than $200 for the shocks and shock boots. I have a 3" body lift kit on it with 33/12.50/15s and i cranked the torsion keys a few turns to give it the level look. What do you guys have on your big D's? I would like a stiffer ride. =) Thanks guys

I personally recommend Bilstein HD. But then again I have no lift... Bilstein might have something for lifted kits or might extend to meet your lift. Check them out....mine in spring 2009 was about $200 for all four and included shipping/handling. Back then it was a buy three get one free so almost $70 each.

With only a body lift you don't need any special shocks. Just buy the shocks you want and they'll work. I have Monroe shocks all around and they were pretty reasonable. The Reflex will give you a nice stiff ride. I have Monroe Reflex in the front and Monroe Sensa-Trac load adjusting on the back. The back shocks are STIFF whenever I'm not towing and have a perfect ride when I have at least 200# of tongue weight. They also allow me to tow an extra 1,200# before the rear end dips any.

Bilstein also makes a great product but I don't think it would be in your $200 budget. They are stiffer than normal but give an overall nice ride whether your towing on the highway or jumping dirt in the woods.

For my .02 Monroe gives you a great product for the money, and if you don't do too much towing, Monroe Reflex would be what you're looking for. If you do tow here and there, I'd recommend the Sensa-Trac load adjusting (what I have with a coil over).

Below I attached a picture of my shocks and as you can see, they mean business!!

I just use autozone (monroe i think) heavy duty front and rear. They are cheap and have a lifetime warranty. I change my shocks alot more than most cuz of our roads and im pretty hard on them offroad.

KYB's are not bad, Ranchero's get a lot of good review.
Those are the 2 middle of the road shocks I will be looking at soon.

Not Bilsteins but I seldom tow and never off road so why pay for performance I will never use.

RockAuto on line

Original ride quality
Ranchero's $47 each
KYB $25 to $35 each

Increased handling/Performance section

KYB Gas-Adjust $38-$48 each

Ranchero's $88 each

Also in Heavy Duty there are other KYB and Monroe but no Bilstein at RockAuto

I have had KYB on my 71 Road Runner for years and am very happy.

Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks are good for on road. They have a nice ride but still eleviate wheel hop and keep your tires planted on the road.

KYB makes a quality shock, but that's about it. I wouldn't ask much from them.

Bilstein HD aren't just for towing. They last a while and are built strong to keep wheels planted on the ground even in most drastic dips or jumps.

When it comes to shocks a #1 rule is, you get what you pay for, hands down.
