Default Spark plugs

While we are all in the tree of trust regarding spark plugs......Debris into spark plug hole etc...

First of all I didnt drop anything down the spark plug hole but something else.

After several attempts to get the socket that was stuck on the plug I finally got it out of the hole. It fell into the crevice between the intake plenum and manifold..

First opportunity....tomorrow I will get a flexible magnet and attempt to catch using that.

Does anybody with a 2003 4.7 with factory intake manifold and plenum know of any place it can get caught in and cause further damage? So far I havent had any strange noises but just asking for further input.

The other twist.....that is my only spark plug socket so the inspection of the other spark plugs is on hold until further notice.

It fell inboard by the #5 Drivers side plug 3rd one back.

Don't sweat it, there's nothing between the intake plenum and the block on that year / motor. (I've got the same thing)

When I pulled mine down last year for a cracked head I found a mouse nest buried in there. Guess he wanted to stay warm for the winter....

A trick I learned from my Dad years ago was to take your spark plug socket and tack weld it into an extension. That way when the plug gets stuck in the socket you don't end up having to fish it out of a tight place. Works really well on engines like these where the plugs are buried.

You can also (for sunken in plugs) either buy a socket with the rubber grommet- or if you have the socket, get 2 or 3 strips of 3/8" x 2" black tape and fold it over and inside the edge of the socket on at least 2 sides. Then wrap a strip around the outside. Now you can pull the socket without it dropping back in.
