Hard Start? help!
03 durango 4.7l
Just seems like when starting it takes to long while turning over.
My truck only has 65k miles on it, was in a front end accident but it didnt get to the motor, but when i put the key in and turn it over, it just turns over for a few seconds and i usually release it cause i dont like listening to it turn over that long, and then i go to turn it over again and usually its right away. But it just doenst seem right, i dunno if its common in durangos or if its an instant start on most of yours. But there is a little lag in the start when turning it over.
Any ideas?

mine starts up pretty well once i hit the start position, but i also allow the fuel pump to prime before engaging the starter
here is what you try (sounds to me like your antidrainback valve is shot)
turn the key to on and let it sit for 10-15 seconds, then try cranking, if it starts right up you have a bad anti-drainback valve, this is inside the fuel pump, so if you want to live with it just start it this way everytime, if not you need to replace the fuel pump
