Default 4.7 engine

Can anyone tell me if a 03' 4.7 engine fit in a 00' Durango?

It depends what engine the 2000 has. If it has the 5.9 then no not without some major modification and overhaul. If it has the 4.7 then I'd say yes should fit with some minor mods here and there.

i believe they use a different tone ring (16t vs 32t) you can swap the tone rings so that you have the right one, that is the only difference btwn the two engines, so yes it will swap over w/ minimal effort as long as the 2000 is a 4.7

Yes they used a different tone ring on the 2000 model then the 2003. In 2000 the 4.7L motors came with a 16 tooth ring on the fly wheel and the 2001-2003 had the 32 tooth. You would need to swap the tone rings to get it to fire but other than that the motors should fit.
