Default exhaust issue

Im having issues with my exhaust leaking.. my problem is, I have a leak between the header and the down-pipe??? So my question is.. what is the gasket? that is bad called (between header and down-pipe), and what would be a fair estimate for cost of replacement from a mechanic?

It's called a "Collector Flange Gasket" and really shouldn't be too much to replace. In fact you could do it yourself if you have an impact driver or wrench. The gasket costs around $15 and it just depends what the mechanic wants to charge you for replacing it. The book calls for half an hour.

I took a closer look at it.. appears it wont be too difficult, problem is I went to advanced auto, they dont carry it... looks like a dealer only part.. but anyways thx for your reply Mr Widow00, I would have never guessed it was called that... my time is limited right now.. i will see what i come up with.. try to do this one myself.. i will update with the result..

Yep it would be way easier to find but you can find them online just google collector flange gasket and find the right size. Like I said it's really not that hard of a fix. Good luck!

Well concitering the bolts are usually deteriorated and rusted, well it might be better to have a shop do it unless your geared up.....IMHO

My left side seperated from the header pipe and exhaust pipe due to rusty bolts. Drove it for about 8 months with really loud exhaust because i thought it was going to be a pain to fix. Finally got fed up with it and grabbed a couple of 9/16 or 1/2 inch bolt from work and a wrench and socket and put it back together. 10 min of work. Never saw a gasket though and still running as quiet as the day I got it.

I called the dealer.. told me there is no gasket.. the header and pipe just fit together.. with a flange and two bolts. I finally had the time.. its fixed and runs as quite as ever
