Unhappy 4x4 issues

I just bought a 01 slt Durango 4.7 with 2wd 4hi and 4lo. I got it very cheap but was told its 4x4 wouldn't work. Yesterday I plugged in wiring to the actuator near the transfer case. So, I have read a lot on the site about issues others have had and mine aren't matching. I am new to the dodge world so please be easy on a newb. My indicator switch is working but when switched to 4hi it blinks for a few then goes back to 2wd. I don't have any dummy lights on the cluster saying anything is wrong. Also, I don't know how loud the actuator is supposed to be, but I can't hear it moving at all. Just don't know where a good starting place is at this point after reading about tccm issues. Any ideas?

Unplug the T-case motor and look for corrosion in the harness, and plug it back in. Could just be a bad connection.

Got it! Thank you! I got back under it to clean the plug and noticed a wire looked stretched. It wasn't making contact inside the coating of the wire! Couple splices and a good crimping did the job

Yeah haha I got it just because the po didn't know why the 4x4 wouldn't work. He never attempted to even have it looked at since he was from Texas. I gave a grand for it haha!!!

Nice! I hope, for your sake, that isn't an indication of how well he maintained it...

Speaking of 4x4

What's the preferred method of shifting between 2WD and 4WD?

When I come to a complete stop, or slowly rolling, I can shift from 2WD to 4WD HI with no issues.

Trying to shift into 4WD LO, I stop completely, put the tranny in neutral... put the transfer case in nuetral... and try to shift up into 4WD LO - I get a lot of grinding and it usually doesn't want to go in.

But If I shift from 4WD HI and then through 2WD, Neutral, and up into 4WD LO... It seems to work almost flawlessly.

Is that the prescribed method? It's what works best for me...

Just a slight roll will help in any of the shifting in any range.
