Default 2001 Dodge Durango 5.9L has no heat

A friend of mind just bought a 2001 Dodge Durango and he was telling me that he has no heat in the passenger compartment when turned on. The blower fan is working fine and he had the thermostat changed, but still no heat. Does anyone possibly know why this could be happening? Could there be an electric switching under the dash not working when he turns the **** to red/heat? Maybe opening a door in front of the heater core? Any answer will be appreciated.

For the record, the thermostat isn't like a thermostat in a house. Basically it controls the amount of coolant flowing thru the engine and keeps it from being under/over heated, nothing to do with the cabin temperature. If it was a thermostat problem causing the heat to go away, your engine would be overheating.

When you say: passenger compartment, are you referring to the rear heater/ac unit? Sometimes a failure in the linkage from the temperature control door to its actuator/motor occurs. See this thread for more info:

So are you saying when he turns the heat on there is heat on the drivers side but not the passenger side??????

If there is no heat at all you could have a plugged heater core.
