Default Rear Axle - Make and Model?

I bought a rear axle assembly from a 2003 Durango so I could swap the rear disc brake parts over to replace my old drum setup.

This will leave me with a perfectly good and working order rear end and axle.

My question is...what is it's make and model? I have my fingers crossed it's a Dana 60.

It's not!....Sorry to bust your bubble, then again no I'm not......LOL

Anyway, they only came in Chrysler Corporate 9.25 and Chrysler Corporate 8.25. They where made by Spicer. If you look at the bolts on the cover and there is 12 then it's a 9.25, if it has 10 then it's a 8.25.

If you turn one wheel and the other turns the same direction then it's a Limited Slip (Trac-Lok) if it turns the opposite way then it is open.

There should also have been a card on the cover that stated the model and a second that stated the gearing. 3.9 is 3.92 gearing, and 3.5 is 3.55 gearing.

Great info, thanks.

So, in your opinion, would the 12 bolt 9.25 Trac-Lok rear end be a good rear end for custom projects?

I have a few ideas but this won't be rolling on pavement a lot.

Thanks.

Yea,

It's the same set up as under the 1500 Ram. They will hold up to what you want to do. Actually the Trac-Lok is a.....PITA..... anyway because it has clips that hold the clutch disks and they like to pop out and what not.

Now if you are building a off road machine then I would go with a posi drop in personally.
