Default Hissing sound, engine dies.

Hi everyone, first post. I just got a 1998 durango 4x4 with the 5.2
It has 160k, and for the most part runs good. I had a CEL which
came up with both o2 sensors, I replaced the front one and it turned off.

Now, every once in a while I hear a loud hissing from the engine, sounds
central around the throttle body maybe? Also, the engine will slowly die
when it's making the sound. I'm thinking IAC motor?

Thanks for any help!

Cole

I'm thinking either IAC solenoid or lower intake plenum gasket. I'd start by replacing the IAC however because it's cheaper and much easier to do. Make sure you get a can of throttle body cleaner and shoot it in the IAC port on the back of the throttle body too, to make sure theres no carbon build up keeping it from moving.

I'd try and get a stethoscope and isolate where exactly it's coming from that way you're not stuck replacing this and that and be stuck with a stalling engine still.

Check for vacuum leaks too. 160,000 miles and 13 years is a long time for rubber hoses.
