1st Gen Durango 1998 - 2003 Durango's

2000 Durango Tow Capacity? I think I got taken.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm glad to see someone else is pulling a camper about the same weight as mine. After thinking about this for a while I called Trail Quest and they said they can change out the front and rear diffs t 4:10 gear ratio for $1200-$1400. I think I'm going to pull the camper for a bit and see how it does and then if I don't like it I'll put 4:10's in it. Even after swapping out the diff gears I would only be in to this Durango for about $4,000 and it's only got 126,000 miles on it. Plus the only thing I use this thing for is pulling my small tractor, hauling firewood, and camping.

Be careful since you are at (or over by this time) 130k miles. I had to rebuild my transmission around 150k.

Default towing etc

Although not a direct response to the trailering question, my experiences in my 2000 D 5.9L have been excellent while pulling an Exp(ode)lorer on ice during a blizzard several miles in 4hi, no problem at all. Also many yanks from snowbanks, ditches, and the like have left me confident in my winter Beastie. She aint going to fail getting me home.
