Default Rear door speaker replacement/door panel removal

First off, let me state that I realize how dumb I probably sound making this post. I have zero knowledge when it comes to audio installation. I’m looking to replace the 6-1/2 speakers in the rear doors of my Durango. Does anyone know how difficult it is to remove the door panel to get to the speakers? Once that is complete, I’m guessing the speaker replacement is pretty self explanatory.

Default R/T configuration

The configuration for the R/T is different from the one shown in the video. It has two arm rods that are really hard to disconnect.

True, but not because it's an R/T, but because the video shows the 98-00 interior, the OP has an 01 R/T which has the new interior.

Anyway, here's a video that shows the right door style, its getting into the window regulator, but it does show the needed door panel information.

Once you get in there and look it over, make sure you are careful taking the old speakers off the spacers, I ended up just screwing the speaker to the spacer itself, and they hold fine, no rattling...just make sure you get a diagram of what colors are positive and negative for the wires...

For those that are planning on changing out their speakers, you need to purchase these aftermarket brackets that will adapt any type of 6.5 inch speaker to the OEM speaker spacer on the door. This way, you will not need the shallow depth speaker that will cause you to lose some bass response.

You will need to purchase 2 sets if you are planning on replace all 4 speakers.
