valve or motor...?
Hi, first post this forum. I have an 01 4.7 Durango and have researched the forum and concluded that I need to replace my IAC. My local parts store has 2 different parts for this Idle Air Control Motor/Valve. I dont know which on to buy. 1 is 20 bucks and the other is 60 bucks. Which one do I need if Ive already replaced the TPS and reset the PCM for this idle problem everyone else seems to have as well. Idle Air control Valve or Idle Air Control Motor? I want to one next to the TPS on the Throttle body right? Thanks for all your help, this forum is awesome!
Are you sure they got the right engine / part? As far as I know the IAC is a plunger assembly and should sell for about $65 or so. Check out www.rockauto.com online catalog for pictures / pricing.
Before you replace it have you tried cleaning it and the throttle body as well? Instructions are listed at the top of the forum in the do-it-yourself thread. Easily accomplished and you're only out a can of carb cleaner and an hours worth of time.
EDIT: Here's the link to the cleaning instructions for a 4.7
