trans problem
2002 SLT 45RFE
having issues with my wifes trans. Temp lite came on couple of days ago. checked fluid, all was well. drove it about 15 miles the next day, when I let off the throttle,(going 60) it immediately down shifted. As I turned a corner into town, it acted like it was in neutral. I let off gas, then stepped back on it, all was fine. At the next corner, neutral again. This time all was not well. Would not move in any gear. switched into 4x4 still nothing. Towed it to a parking lot. Next day it drove right up onto the car trailer. didn't try to drive it again. Hooked up a taskmaster to it and got codes P0733,P0944,P1790and P1793.
checked the data stream while running, had data at idle but as soon as I picked up the RPM's, showed no data. Is this normal? I plan on pulling the pan tonite. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks Ranowner

P0733 - Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio
P0944 - Hydraulic Press Unit Loss of Press
P1790 - Fault Immediately After Shift
P1793 - Transmission Control Module Stack Overrun
It sounds to me like you need to drop the pan first and foremost and see what it looks like under there. Be prepared to see flakes of metal because with the first 3 codes, I'm inclined to believe you have a serious problem with the transmission and it looks like you could have a new transmission in the near future.
Also, you could need a new TCM because with the last code, it sounds like something triggered that code that is hardware related that most likely is the cause of a failed module.
What I would do first is drop the pan, fill with fluid and replace the fluid cooler return filter, then reset the computer (instructions can be found in the engine code area) and see if the codes come up again. If it does come up again then I would drop the transmission and check coil packs along with your disc input clutches.
