Default AC noise

Hi,

I have a 98 with a 5.2 liter. The compressor pulley squeals whether clutch is engaged or not. The AC blows very cold air and there is good volume.I put a different belt on and bypassed the pulley so I know it's where the squeal is cumming from. Any help would be most welcome.

Thanks
Bill

+1 topdogcustoms. You'll get a lot of opinions regarding new vs manufactured. Just go with what your wallet will allow.
When/if you decide to replace it, go ahead and replace the front expansion valve and drier. Also, once you get it put back together, take it to a shop to evacuate and recharge.

You can buy just a replacement clutch if need be. Sounds like the compressor is fine.

Also, before that... coat all the clutch nooks and crannies front and back on the compressor pulley (the clutch) with Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil and Lube. Drive 4 miles and experience the cost savings miracle.
