1998 Durango ABS pulsing
I have been doing alot of work on my durango that I bought to fix up. The brake related work I have done is replacing the Pads, rotors, master cylinder, passenger wheel hub,and combination valve. I had no rear brakes before I did the work.
The problem I have now is when I brake the abs pulsing kicks on. It seems to happen mostly when i put a little more force on it,and when its close to stopping. Not pressing hard enough so they should come on. It is very weird and I am not sure why it is doing it. For now I am going to disconnect the fuse to turn them off, I dont really need the ABS but would fix it if it isnt realy exspensive. Any Ideas and what the problem could be? Also I am assuming if I disconnect the fuse the light will come on,any way to disable the light also?
Thanks for any help.

1) https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-d...s-section.html
ill move it for you
2) fuse out = light on, afaik nothing you can do about it except put a piece of electrical tape over it so you dont have to see it.
3) if you had to rear brakes did you fix those?? are theyw orking? are they properly adjusted?
4) is it just the ABS light on or are there any other lights on? it could be the rear wheel speeds sensor that is causing the light (its on top of the rear differential) or the output speed sensor on the transmission

Thanks for moving it my bad.
I did pull the fuse and light came on,but it also made the speedometer stop working. A while after I was running it the check engine light came on it.I put the fuse back in and disconnected the battery, the check engine light went out and the abs light. But i pulled the fuse back out again because the pulsing problem is bad. I may need to see if there is another way to turn off the ABS.
The rear brakes are fixed and adjusted. They wernt working because the combination valve was no good.
Something else i notice when i turn the car on about 1 second or so after the engine stars I hear a clunking noise out of the abs unit under the hood,
im not sure if its the motor on abs module or what.
Again its weird it does the pulsing only at the end of braking when almost to a stop, and then it does it for 2-3 seconds and makes it hard for the vehicle to stop.
Any help thanks.

I had a similar problem with 4 wheel abs. My computer overheated and was making the pump run non-stop (Ignition off even). There is a separate fuse for the abs pump in the fuse box under the hood, should be by the trailer fuse. This disables the pump but will trip the abs light. You will keep your speedo and will have normal brakes, just no anti-lock feature.
Sounds like what I might do. Truthfully I would like to fix it, I just cant afford what that will probably end up costing to figure it out.
Someone mentioned to me maybe it has something to do with when the brakes where done. both front brakes where done, and the passenger side Hub with abs sensor was done. But no light came on after So I dont think it is the wheel sensor. Not really sure what it is at this point.
