Default Transmissions or someting else?

01 durango r/t
so i read over your sticky on transmissions issues but im still not sure what the problem is and was just trying to figure out if its possible if it is a Diff or something else, this is whats happening. once the Vehicle is warmed up about 10min of driving after i come to a stop ie red light then try to acclerate its like im towing a massive amount of weight it just doesnt want to take off but as soon as i hit 25 its fine its not reving high either its just like it struggles to even pull its own weight and also if im on the highway and i really put it down to pass someone it jumps from the top end of the gear to the bottom end of the next gear a few times until my speeds is good enough to stay in the next gear any ideas would be great and also recently noticed a small leak form my rear diff but i had fluid changed not 2 weeks ago thanx

Have you cleaned the tb, check the IAC and TPS. TPS would be more likely.

So heres what i found when im hard accelerating its not the transmissions gears its just eratic reving on the engines part thanx for replying but i changed out my TPS about 3 months ago my IAC i checked if i have it right seems fine i have no surge in rpms other then when i floor it on the highway and if TB is throttle body yea i had it cleaned not long ago when i did my plugs and wires, what im goin to do get a IAC since i alrady did the TPS and see thanks for the info

on take off the best way to describe it is like accelerating with you brakes on is the feeling but stronger in the back and then it just kicks in

+1 on adjusting the bands, change fluid, do not let a shop flush it. You should drain the tranny twice if it hasn't been done in a while.

i know this is a hey stupid question but i have to ask since you didnt mention it

did you check the transmission fluid level? (and if so did you do it correctly?)

correct way to check transmission fluid,
engine and transmission at operating temp (12-15 miles of driving), stop on level ground, put gear shift in each gear (starting with park) for 5 seconds ending in nuetral (p-r-n-D-2-1-n) set e-brake, pull dipstick and wipe clean, reinsert, pull out and check level, what does it say??

low transmission fluid is a culprit for many gear hunting/poor shifting issues.
