Front Differential Estimate
I've got a 1999 Durango SLT 5.9L and it appears my front differential has had it. I was in the business a long time ago, and never really got into drivetrain, so I'm limited in my perspective. I was originally ballparked between 600-1000 for a rebuild, and now that I've brought it in, I'm being quoted 1700 for a used differential, P&L. Naturally, the service writer who worked on the estimate is out for the day, so they are trying to track him down to explain the shift in pricing. Anyone out there have any ideas on whether this sounds roughly legit?
That's WAY too high!
Does it just look like an internal issue or did the whole thing break in half or something. A normal rebuild should be around 700-800 for a front because they are harder to disassemble.
